Florida

Florida, especially the Tampa Bay Area, is my second favorite place to visit for beer in the USA. I try to head here a couple times a year to get out of the cold Michigan weather, enjoy some sun, and brews. The best area to check out is the St. Pete/Clearwater/Tampa Bay area. They have the St. Pete/Clearwater Beer Trail – head here if you’re looking for some great beer! Another great resource is GulpCoast.com.

      • Small, almost grungy feel to it inside. Large outdoor beer garden. They have pinball machines! Nice place to chill at night.

  5. Cycle Brewing St. Pete:
    • About the Space:
      • Chill space with that hipster vibe located in St. Pete.
    •  About the Beer:
      • Standard offerings, but most are pretty good. I had The Bench Pale Ale which was great, but that was a few years ago, so not sure if they still have it.
  6. Dunedin Brewing Company:
    • About the Space:
      • Have a nice sized bar and dining area. They offer standard pub fare that is decent.
    • About the Beer:
      • Most of their beers are tasty and refreshing. Quite common in Florida where it’s very warm and humid! Their Celtic Gold Ale and Noggin Black Cherry Pale Ale are solid choices.
  7. Flying Boat Brewing Company:

  8. Green Bench Brewing Co.:

    • About the Space:
      • Large, chill taproom with a large outdoor seating area. They have plenty of games like large Jenga and corn hole/bags.
    • About the Beer:
      • Something about their beers I didn’t quite care for… They all had a strange taste that didn’t settle well with me, but a lot of people like their beer. Worth a try for the location. Get their Peanut Butter Cup Stout.
  10. The Ale And The Witch:
    • About the Space:
      • Ok, so this really isn’t a brewery, but this is my favorite spot in downtown St. Pete. There is some seating inside or there is a huge courtyard where you can enjoy the beautiful Florida weather. Bring some food from a local place and you’ve got yourself one fun evening!
    • About the Beer:
      • A huge selection of rotating taps from around Florida and the US. They have something for everyone! Ask a bartender for recommendations.

  2. Sea Dog Brewing Co.:

      • One of the most unique brewery experiences you will find. The outside isn’t impressive, but once you step inside you are in a whole other world. They have a large taproom with a fun nautical themed artwork. One wall has a loop of the ocean from the perspective of a shark’s mouth. They also have a huge arcade game projecting on the wall.
    • About the Beer:
      • I only was able to try their IPAs since it was two for one IPA night, but both the Sun Viking IPA and the OG (Original Gandy) IPA were solid.
  2. Cigar City Brewing Company:
