Oregon

Oregon definitely has a great craft beer scene, especially in the Portland Area. Here’s a list of a few of the numerous breweries that I have been to in the awesome state.

Brewery Reviews

Cannon Beach

  1. Pelican Brewing Company
    • About the Space:
      • Nice, modern brewpub in the small town near Cannon Beach. Very big and let in a lot of natural light. Food was pretty good, so overall worth a stop if you are in the area.
    • About the Beer:
      • They have quite a wide range of styles to choose from, especially since they are not a large brewery. Most of the beers here are above average. I enjoyed the MacPelican’s Scottish Style Ale and the Beak Breaker Imperial IPA.

Hood River

  1. Full Sail Brewing Company
    • About the Space:
      • Awesome brewpub in the Columbia River Gorge area. They have great views of the river, delicious food, and tasty beer. What more could you want? Highly recommend this place!
    • About the Beer:
      • Everything I tried was superb. They have a wide range of beers to choose from. I enjoyed the Ales for ALS Pale Ale and the Blood Orange Wheat Ale.
  2. pFriem Brewing Company
    • About the Space:
      • Unique space in that they have two floors, both with different a different feel. The first floor you are more in the brewery area. The second floor has a more vintage feel to it with some leather seats and bookcases. Overall a neat place to see.
    • About the Beer:
      • Really tasty offerings. I enjoyed the Blonde IPA and the Sour IPA.

Portland

  1. Deschutes Brewery – Portland Public House
    • About the Space:
      • Huge brewpub located in downtown. They have numerous food offerings and plenty of seating.
    • About the Beer:
      • You’ve probably had many of their beers already, since they distribute far and wide. Get the sampler to try more unique offerings you can’t find in store. I liked the Black Butte Porter and the Obsidian Nitro Stout.
  2. Great Notion Brewing Company
    • About the Space:
      • Kind of an industrial feel to the place. A little smaller, since it’s located in the Alberta street neighborhood. They have some food offerings.
    • About the Beer:
      • They have some excellent beer. Not the largest tap list, but you will likely enjoy what they do have available. I liked the Ripe IPA and the Double Stack Imperial Stout.
  3. Rouge Distillery and Public House
    • About the Space:
      • Really fun taproom in downtown. They serve your basic pub grub here to help soak up all the beer you’re going to be drinking!
    • About the Beer:
      • Another large brewery that you have likely tried some of their beers before. But I would recommend making a stop here to try a flight of some of their harder to find beers. I thought their Hazelutely Chocabulous and Hazelnut Brown Nectar were fantastic. (I guess I like hazelnut beer!)
